Native American Perspective
The Native Americans who allied with the British were mostly part of the Iroquois Confederacy. This was because of William Johnson who allied with them by trading valuable goods. William Johnson would later become Commissioner of Indian Affairs. However most Native Americans in the area trusted the French more because the French didn’t have as many settlements as the British and were not expanding as fast. The French were generally friendly to the Native Americans however a Frenchman named Samuel de Champlain during some of the first European expeditions had shot at some of the members of the Iroquois Confederacy. Another reason Native Americans sided with the French Is because, according to Ottawa chief Pontiac, the British were swarming into regions everywhere and treating the Native Americans in that area like they didn’t belong on their land and that the settlers did. Also some of the new English settlers were not as friendly anymore and they continued to shoo the Native Americans away. The war chief Pontiac convinced tribes in that area to ally with the French because he felt they had a stronger friendship with the French. Some Native Americans would switch who they were allied with or when they were willing to fight with them.
French Perspective
The reason France was in the Ohio Country, Which is the land the two countries were fighting over, was for the main river route and furs and trading. France saw the opportunity of North America as a way to make money, which is why they wanted the Ohio Country. They were friendly towards the Native Americans for the most part so in the French and Indian War they had Native Americans who were willing to ally with them. As for the British they were not very happy with. The British were expanding and so was the French. They both wanted power and wealth. Before the French and Indian War, and during, in Europe France and England were both growing in power. There were three different wars in each France and England were after wealth. France and England were both trying to take control over as much area as they could, so before the French and Indian War, when France had the opportunity to build forts in the Ohio County area, they took it and wanted to claim it as theirs. Britain was a problem though, because they also wanted the land for the same reasons France did. The Ohio Country area had many major rivers and other advantages.
Colonists Perspective
Colonist were mad at the British government, especially John campbell the commander in chief of the British army in America, or the Loudon in 1756. He believed the colonist should obey him, just like Edward Braddock, and he led a failed attempt of capturing Fort Louisbourg. The leaders of the colonies were not as helpful as Britain wanted them to be in giving supplies and people to fight, so Britain wanted to reorganize the colonies government to give Britain more control. The reason the colonist were so mad at Britain was because of the commander in chief, who was bad at communicating with the colonies. The colonies wanted the same rights the British had. They didn’t like having to be forced to supply the British with recruits and money.
When William Pitt starts his plan in defeating French forces in North America he treats the colonist like allies, like they were their own country. William Pitt didn’t boss them around but he paid the colonies for supplies and recruits unlike John Campbell. They colonists were much more helpful after the sudden turn in attitude towards them.

British Perspective
Just like the French Britain wanted power and to take control over North America. Britain was worried about the tension between them and the colonist because they didn’t want a rebellion and the colonists were mad. They were angry with Britain because of the war that they were being forced to fight in.
When the French and Indian War started, Britain, as well France, were involved in a war in Europe called the Seven Years War. Leaders in Britain thought the war happening in North America was not as important as what was happening in their country and Europe. However there was someone named William Pitt, who was the Secretary of State in Britain, who felt otherwise. Instead of not being concerned about the war in North America he saw it as an opportunity for Britain to defeat France. He focused on supplying the British army in North America with giving money to help blowdown France in America. He thought if they won Britain would get money from controlled colonies and islands that produced goods that were needed or wanted and be a powerful nation. Before William Pitt started supplying money to the people in North America, the colonist were not very happy with Britain because of the bad relationship with the commander-in-chief. William Pitt treated the colonist like allies and that made them happy.
